Enquiry: Dear Mr Learmonth,
There is a proposal to build a massive lorry stacking facility at the edge of Sellindge/Aldington villages.
This will be very close to the Electricity converter Station.
I understand that it will accommodate 3,000 plus lorries during Operation Stack, in force when the Cross Channel ferries are out of action because of strikes or bad weather.
Could you please tell me whether you are in favour of such a construction, bearing in mind the fact that there will be lorries carrying hazardous loads, and the proximity of the Converter Station.  I would have thought that policing this would be very expensive, and with the cost of something like £50 million pounds, (and escalating) it would be an unnecessary burden on the taxpayer, when Kent Police seem to manage Operation Stack admirably.
In today's political climate, it would be a prime target for terrorism I would have thought.

Mavis Turton
