Sellindge Converter Station and overhead power lines work

SDC Cllr Mrs Jenny Hollingsbee published in the Sellindge Village news - May 2012 - her report, which included a section on the above as follows:

"I visited the National Grid at the Sellindge Converter Station and was given a presentation on their development proposals. This involves a new sub-station and storage area (but within the current site) with construction starting late summer and lasting approximately 18 months to 2 years. There are also plans to carry out extensive refurbishment of the overhead lines from Sellindge to Canterbury and Sellindge to Dungeness starting in 2013 and taking a year to complete. I am assured that all heavy traffic will be directed from the M20 via Junction 10 and not through Sellindge and that this is a condition embedded in all contracts. The National Grid will work closely with the local community to maintain good relations."
