Subject: Maximum Speed Limits

Hi,

I wanted to draw your attention to this important petition that I recently signed:

"No to 80mph speed limits"
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/no-to-80mph-speed-limits/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=system&utm_campaign=Send%2Bto%2BFriend

The petition is primarily motivated by increased accident risks and the consequences and is absolutely right in this context.

But remember also that as speed increases so does the noise generated by engines and tyres on the road.  It is only a few years back that great trumpeting was made of the resurfacing of the M20  with 'quiet tarmac'.  Whatever good that has achieved will be undone if the speed limit goes up.

Increasing the speed limit seems to against all natural logic......more dangerous, more noisy, and far more consumptive of fuel.

I really think this is an important cause, and I'd like to encourage you to add your signature, too. It's free and takes just a few seconds of your time.

Please click on this link for further information .......   Useful, inevitable, obvious conclusions

Thanks!

regards,
