Sellindge Petition - Tuesday 1st March 2pm - be there

To Members and Friends of Sellindge and District Residents Association
 INFORMATION REGARDING SELLINDGE PETITION
One of the most impressive actions taken by you, the residents of Sellindge village was to sign the Petition organised to ask KCC Officers and Members to stop the application by Countrystyle to build an industrial sized Waste Treatment Plant at Otterpool Lane Quarry.

We now understand that the Application is going to be heard at Maidstone on the 15th March. Therefore we are going to present Cllr Susan Carey  with the Petition tomorrow, Tuesday 1st March at 2 00 pm at the Airport Cafe and the Press will be there to record it all. While this is short notice we do hope you may be able to attend.

This Petition is significant in that over 96% iof the village signed it - that has got to be close to being a UK record. Our message to Countrystyle remains the same - Industrial Processes belong in Industrial Parks - not in the beautiful Kent countryside,

  Kindest Regards                                                                                                                     Ronald Lello, Chairman

The council expects to be issued with the final Masterplan by early March and you will be notified when the document is available to view online.

In the mean time the Sellindge Masterplan Stage B- Viability Report is now available to view on their website

This document includes details of the options appraisal workshop that was held on 15th November with the team and the outcomes.

Lydd Airport - Expansion - flights - long approach right over Sellindge?

Inquiry begins over expansion of airport

In this weeks Folkestone Herald (24 February) on page 7, is the article (see image) below. Click on the each image to increase its size, so you can read it more easily. Once you have finished, click on the back arrow in the top left of the screen to return to here.

The ILS maps from the CAA show the long approach being right over Sellindge. The flight paths have been overlaid onto an aerial photomap in an attempt to make it more understandable where the flight paths actually are/would be. The flight path above Sellindge seems to be around 2000 to 3000 feet. You can see aerial photomap described in the right-hand column, at the top of the 'Recent Updates' section (5th coloured section down). Just click on the link entitled 'Lydd Airport expansion Flight Path' to view. Once you have finished click on the back arrow at the top of the screen to return to here.

KCC PLANNING HEARING - Otterpool Quarry Waste Treatment - NOW 15th March

Anaerobic Waste Recycling Plant application – deferred to 15th March

KCC have once again deferred the hearing of the Countryside's Otterpool Anaerobic Waste plant Application due to further information needing to be considered.

It is now scheduled to be heard at the following KCC meeting on Tuesday 15th March, at 10.00am. Please remember that County Councillor Susan Carey says such demonstrations do have a big effect so please make a huge effort to be there.

Coaches have been re-booked for Tuesday 15th March to take protesters to County Hall Maidstone. People will need to be at the Village hall by 8.20 am, leaving on the dot at 8.30 am. The early departure is necessary due to the hearing starting at 10 am, the time it takes to get to Maidstone (including rush hour and being market day) and needing to present our Petition and be settled in place before the hearing. If you would like to join us on the coach then we are just asking for a £5 donation to the Residents’ Association.

Please register your interest by contacting Margaret Ludlow via email mjludlow@toucansurf.com or telephone (01303) 813 369 if you have not already done so.

Any updates will be posted here as soon as we hear anything.

Dear Mr Ludlow
I was very disappointed to read that you will not be writing your news any more as I find this one of the best articles each month. I wish to attend the next Parish meeting and make my views known if that is okay with you.

Ms Turton,

I saw your letter on Slurry.org.

For your information you can get a tree preservation order for trees not on your property although there is certain criteria though such as whether the tree is under threat etc.

We managed to get a preservation order on Park Wood - where they want to put the lorry park, because we found a rare species of plant.

Hopefully you will get some information from Shepway.  I believe the tree officer is a man called Dave Sephton.

Hope this helps,

Penny.
