Dear May 4th Voters,

Have you ever felt that you've been banging your head against a brick wall, asking for information, and getting nowhere, and then all of a sudden 'EUREKA'.  Then realise that the only reason the information that you have been seeking has been held back for a reason. But what could that reason be? 

                                                                 THE ELECTION ON THE 4TH MAY.

Many of us have been asking the question: Why has there been no feedback from the so called 'Community Engagement' held in early December 2016 relating to the proposed New Town development. Why are Shepway District Council withholding it? Could it be because of:

Here, we are publishing three emails from a trail of twenty sent to Ms Flounders about their Community Engagement analysis. To be fair to Ms Flounders, she is the 'Aunt Sally' that SDC have installed on to their Otterpool website to take flack, simply because they haven't the backbone to answer to us; the Residents.

Please could you inform me of your analysis of the Otterpool Town community engagement carried out in early December in Lympne, Westenhanger, Sellindge and Hythe.

My apologies for the delay in response. The Stage 1 Community Engagement Report will be published in early May ahead of the next series of community engagement sessions, which will take place between 18^th and 20^th May.

We're pretty sure that the Community Engagement report will be published after THE ELECTION ON THE 4TH MAY. Why ? Our own exit poll to all 4 events showed that out of 151 residents interviewed, only 2 supported the idea of building a new town in our rural communities. Should the SDC report show a similar result to ours, and we can't see why it shouldn't, and then be published prior to THE ELECTION ON THE 4TH MAY, can you imagine the horror on all 110,000 Shepway Residents faces and how it would affect the voting pattern at THE ELECTION ON THE 4TH MAY.

Perhaps SDC should have included that information in the mini brochure, 'OTTERPOOL PARK - YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED' sent across Shepway. We could, at best, describe it as puerile propaganda.  

So, there we have it. Monk and his cronies up to their old tricks again. As transparent as ever.

Dear 4th May Voters,

Below is another attempt of SDC manouvering their position to justify the proposed 12,000 Housing Estate they are calling Otterpool Town by incorporating it into the Core Strategy Local Plan. Do try to attend. If you can't, make your views known by not voting for the SDC supporters of this monstrous development on the 4th May. Let's get them out.

On reading their statements about why you should vote for them, we discovered that: (from left to right)

Susan Carey, (Elham Valley). is campaigning for better broadband and mobile phone access.

Rory Love, (Cheriton, Sandgate, Hythe East). has a habit for speaking up for local Residents.

Dick Pascoe (Folkestone East) is an ex firefighter.

David Monk (Folkestone West) says: It has been my privilege to represent the Residents of Shepway.

David Owen (Hythe West) says: Hythe is truly home to myself and my family.

Tony Hills (Romney Marsh) is keen on promoting Dungeness beach as the home of modern beach casting.

Err ?  Are we missing something here? Here we have the Leader, David Monk with his chums. Do you think they could be described as Apparatchiks - Towing the Shepway Cabal line? Could we imagine for one moment that all six had a private meeting and discussed Otterpool Town, The Lorry Park and Princes Parade and agreed not to mention it in their election blurb just in case it upset a few Residents. No, no, no, of course not. Would fine, upstanding public servants be so devious and calculating? Of course not.

So, if you want to support a candidate that takes you for a complete moron, vote for one of these.

If, on the other hand, you feel that other candidates will represent YOU and campaign on YOUR behalf on local issues like the Lorry Park, Princes Parade and the massive 12,000 dwelling Housing Estate described as a New Town on your rural doorstep, other candidates are available.

We will be profiling many of them over the next fortnight, giving you the chance to weigh up the runners for yourselves.

YELLOW PERIL

Dear Residents, Our team have been driving around the area and are pleased to announce that the offending S&DRA posters for OUR GIANT RALLY on the 22nd APRIL in HYTHE have been removed from display on public land.  You would never know they had been there.  We have however seen a number of yellow posters encouraging people to go to the same event.  This is fly-posting in its most traditional form and it does not conform to Shepway's unpublished (secretive even) "Fly Posting Protocol".  Our Association has not sponsored these.  We do not condone or promote this form of posting and look forward to them being removed forthwith.  There are many groups and individuals like ourselves that are frustrated at the actions of Shepway District Council, denying initial consultation and glibly ignoring any contrary opinions on the new town, as well as other inappropriate developments across our region.  They simply will not now engage in any meaningful way.   Come to OUR GIANT RALLY on the 22nd APRIL in HYTHE starting at 10:30am and let your feelings show. DON'T FORGET TO SHOW YOUR FEELINGS WHEN VOTING ON MAY 4th.

DISSENT IS A CRIME IN SHEPWAY.

Dear Residents,

Continuing our policy of transparency, we are publishing a letter which S&DRA received today about fly posting. It is self explanatory and assumes that we haven't taken action to fall in line with the Town and Country Planning regulation as described. We believe that we have, and as a consequence will state that this assumption by SDC's representative, Jyotsna Leney, is factually incorrect. 

So we would like to ask all Shepway residents to remove the GIANT RALLY posters from public places where they would be unsightly or cause offence. 

On reading the rules and regulations on fly posting, we think that it is unclear and full of contradiction: Arcane verbiage. So, just to be absolutely clear on where a poster could be placed, we would respectfully ask each and every resident that has erected a poster to contact the author of the above letter to simply ask where you are allowed to place your poster. This will ensure that we don't fall foul of the regulations as stated by SDC. 

Our website manager and their team have removed the poster image from our website as requested by SDC.

HUNT THE MONK.

Dear Residents,

Today, Thursday, 6th April, 5 candidates attended the Hustings at the Civic Centre:  

Stephen Priestley, UKIP.  Tim Prater, Lib Dem.  Martin Whybrow, Green.  Aaran Harvey, Labour.  

Bryan Rylands, Independant.

Unfortunately, Councillor and Leader of Shepway District Coucil, David Monk was scheduled to attend but pulled out due to: Your guess is as good as mine. We would have loved for our leader to attend so he could justify his actions over Otterpool, The Lorry Park, Princes Parade and the partnership between SDC and the Reuben (offshore, thank you very much) Brothers, but alas, it wasn't to be.

To be honest, there wasn't a lot to choose from between the candidates, with the main theme being concentrated on the NHS, Ward closures and lack of funding. With members of the audience being paid up members of the Fifty Plus group, it was hardly surprising that the NHS took centre stage.

The issues surrounding Otterpool New Town, Princes Parade and the Lorry Park were obviously raised with all candidates speaking with one voice. (Perhaps Cllr. Monk felt too embarrassed to attend on those issues alone). Lack of transparency within the Council cabal was mooted with one candidate likening our area to a police state. An abuse of power, indeed.

This is he: David Monk with a moustache. 

The mood in the hall was most definitely anti SDC with the audience fully aware of the shenanigans of Monk and his Cabinet Cronies. It wasn't just the audience that voiced their dissent: At the candidates top table, speeches were interspersed with the words Corruption, Lies, Dodgy dealings, Closed door meetings and more. It's clear that more and more residents are becoming familiar with the authoritarian regime that exists at Castle Hill Avenue. It's also clear that the Civic Centre swamp needs to be drained, sooner, rather than later. 

We can start on the 4th May by casting your vote for a candidate that will actually serve you. In other words, anyone rather than an incumbent Shepway Tory.

He promises that during the election campaign he will not claim expenses to clean a moat, hire a battle bus, or hire Noble Purposes.

BBC RADIO KENT.

Dear Residents,

Just had this in from a local resident. Listen out for Radio Kent in the morning. No doubt Radio Kent will run with it throughout the early morning.

I expect that you know, but Radio Kent have been interviewing neighbours along Stone Street this morning for the radio show tomorrow, about 6 am!  I had a lot to say! increase population by 41%, the loss of arable land, traffic congestion, water scarcity, Shepway District Council (SDC) working with business men and women and not the population of Shepway, lack of amenities - gas, water, etc, not enough work anyway for Folkestone residents. 

My question was: Why did SDC start purchasing arable land with rate payers money without consulting them.

The interviewer said that so far she had not met anyone who was for the development and did I know anyone who agreed with it.  I confirmed that everyone I have spoken to, is against it!

This is your chance to pose questions to the above candidates who will be standing in the County Election on the 4th May 2017. 

Six districts within Shepway have a number of candidates standing to be newly and re-elected. By now, you would of all had your voting cards stating in which district you will be voting in. The official notice of candidates has yet to be published, but we can tell you that David Monk will be standing in Folkestone West and Susan Carey is standing again in the Elham Valley Districts. 

Our Association is openly discouraging residents from voting for these two existing Councillors based upon their history of being of unrepresentative of the majority of constituents views on major issues across Shepway.

It is unfortunate that the Conservative party won't be represented at the Hustings as I'm sure that many of you would want to raise certain issues pertaining to the proposed Lorry Park and other contentious areas. Both Councillors Monk and Carey are members of the Conservative party.

Our Association would like to thank the four candidates for taking the time to engage in open debate and look forward to hearing their proposals for making Shepway Residents voices stronger and louder at County Hall.
